Welcome to Maskool. Maskool is an educational platform designed to connect Students with Teachers, enabling booking, communication, payment, lesson-management, and related services for online educational lessons.
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms”) govern the use of Maskool by all users, including both Students and Teachers (collectively, "Users”). By creating an account, accessing, or using the Platform, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and any related policies, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
Certain sections of these Terms apply specifically to Teachers, and certain sections apply specifically to Students. Where a section is general, it applies to all Users.
• Platform: Maskool, including its website, applications, tools, and digital services.
• User: Any person who registers for or uses the Platform, whether as a Student or a Teacher.
• Teacher: A User who provides educational services through Maskool.
• Student: A User who receives educational services from a Teacher through Maskool.
• Lesson: An educational session booked and conducted through the Platform.
• Completed Lesson: A Lesson that has been conducted in accordance with the Platform’s policies and has not been cancelled or classified as a no-show.
• Educational Content: Any educational materials provided by a Teacher, including files, presentations, tests, assignments, videos, images, texts, lesson plans, and other materials.
Users must provide accurate, current, and complete information when creating an account and must keep this information up to date. Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their account credentials and for all activity that occurs under their account.
Where a Student is a minor, the minor's account must be created, supervised, or authorized by a parent or legal guardian in accordance with the Platform's policies and applicable law. Parents/guardians are responsible for supervising their child's use of the Platform.
Maskool may request additional verification information from any User where reasonably necessary, including for safety, fraud-prevention, or legal-compliance purposes.
Maskool acts as a platform that facilitates the connection between Students and Teachers. Teachers are independent educational service providers and are not employees of Maskool, unless a separate written agreement expressly provides otherwise.
These Terms do not create an employment relationship, agency, legal partnership, or legal representation relationship between Maskool and any User, except to the extent expressly stated herein.
Teachers retain professional independence in choosing their teaching methods and educational content, while complying with Maskool’s quality standards and policies. Teachers are responsible for complying with any licenses, certifications, permits, or legal requirements applicable to the provision of their educational services.
Maskool may request that a Teacher provide educational certificates, training certificates, evidence of professional experience, professional licenses (where applicable), and other documents relevant to the educational services provided. Teachers agree that all information and documents submitted are accurate and capable of verification.
A Teacher’s public profile may include their name, professional profile picture, specialization, qualifications, experience, languages, subjects taught, age groups taught, lesson price, available times, introduction video, and student reviews. Teachers are responsible for ensuring that all information displayed on their profile is accurate and up to date.
Maskool may promote the Platform and the educational services offered by Teachers, and may use publicly available profile information for operational and marketing purposes. Maskool does not guarantee a specific number of students, bookings, or income, nor a fixed position or ranking for any Teacher’s profile in search results. Profile visibility may be affected by factors including profile completeness, specialization, availability, student ratings, punctuality, service quality, and responsiveness.
Teachers set the price of their educational services according to the options available on the Platform and may change their prices in the future in accordance with the pricing mechanism available on the Platform. New prices will not apply retroactively to previously confirmed bookings. The price must be clearly displayed to the Student before a booking is completed.
In consideration of the services provided by Maskool, the Platform is entitled to a 7% commission on the value of each Completed Lesson that is paid for through the Platform.
Example: For a $10 Lesson, Maskool’s commission is $0.70 (7%), and the Teacher receives $9.30.
The commission is calculated based on the value of the Completed Lesson paid through the Platform. Any payment-processing fees, taxes, or legally required third-party fees will be handled in accordance with the applicable payment policy and applicable law. Teachers may not circumvent the commission by transferring Students who were introduced through Maskool to direct payment outside the Platform for the purpose of avoiding Maskool’s commission.
Students agree to pay the applicable Lesson price, together with any applicable fees, through the Platform’s designated payment methods at the time of booking or as otherwise specified on the Platform.
Teacher earnings are calculated based on Completed Lessons in accordance with the Platform’s payment system. Amounts owed to a Teacher will be transferred to the payment method registered in the Teacher’s account according to the applicable payment schedule. Maskool may request verification of a User’s information before processing a withdrawal or payment where required by applicable procedures or law.
Teachers agree to attend lessons on time, enter the lesson at the scheduled time, provide an appropriate teaching environment, deliver lessons in a professional manner, treat Students respectfully, follow the agreed educational objective, and not terminate a lesson without a legitimate reason.
Students agree to attend lessons on time, engage respectfully with Teachers, and provide accurate information relevant to their learning needs.
Where a lesson is designated as a video lesson, Teachers are expected to keep their camera switched on throughout the lesson (unless otherwise permitted by the Platform or agreed for a legitimate reason), use a camera of reasonably good quality, ensure adequate and appropriate lighting, maintain a professional appearance suitable for an educational environment, and ensure the surrounding environment is reasonably appropriate for teaching.
Users must comply with confirmed lesson schedules. If circumstances prevent a Teacher or Student from attending a lesson, the relevant party must notify the other as soon as reasonably possible and use the Platform’s rescheduling system where available. Repeated absence, lateness, or cancellation may affect a Teacher’s account ranking or result in corrective action.
• Cancellation more than 24 hours before the lesson: the lesson may be rescheduled without an automatic penalty.
• Cancellation less than 24 hours before the lesson: the cancellation may be recorded as an account-impacting cancellation.
• Teacher no-show: if the Teacher fails to attend without an acceptable reason, the Student may be entitled to a refund or replacement lesson, and Maskool may take appropriate action against the Teacher’s account.
• Emergency circumstances: reviewed individually; penalties will not automatically apply where the circumstances were genuinely beyond the party’s reasonable control.
A Student may be eligible for a full refund if: the Teacher did not attend the lesson; the Teacher cancelled the lesson without providing a suitable alternative; the lesson could not be conducted due to a significant technical failure attributable to Maskool; or it is established following review that the paid service was not provided.
A partial refund may be issued where only part of the lesson was delivered. A refund will not automatically be granted solely because a Student does not like a Teacher’s teaching style or personal teaching preferences. Maskool may review the circumstances of each refund request and determine the appropriate resolution in accordance with the applicable policies.
Students and Teachers may submit complaints through Maskool’s official support channels. Where possible, a complaint should include the account name, booking number, lesson date, description of the issue, and any available supporting evidence. Complaints should preferably be submitted within 7 days of the relevant incident, except for complaints involving safety, fraud, privacy, serious misconduct, or other serious violations.
Maskool may request additional information, contact the parties involved, review booking, attendance, and available technical records, issue a warning, arrange a replacement lesson, issue a refund where appropriate, temporarily suspend an account, or terminate an account.
A User may request a review of a complaint-related decision within 7 days of being notified of the decision. The appeal should explain the reason for the objection and include any new information or evidence relevant to the matter. Maskool will review the appeal based on the information available and may uphold, modify, or reverse the original decision where appropriate.
Teachers agree to maintain an appropriate professional standard, including adequate preparation, student engagement, clear explanations, adapting teaching to the Student’s level, providing appropriate feedback, maintaining professional communication, and respecting scheduled lesson times. Maskool may use quality indicators and Student ratings to improve the user experience and determine the presentation or ranking of Teacher profiles.
Students may rate their experience with a Teacher. The following are prohibited for all Users: manipulating ratings; creating fake accounts to influence ratings; asking for or offering false reviews; pressuring another User to provide a particular rating; or attempting to remove or manipulate genuine reviews through improper means.
Teachers retain ownership of original Educational Content they create, unless otherwise agreed in writing. Teachers grant Maskool a non-exclusive license to use such content to the extent reasonably necessary to operate the Platform, display the Teacher’s profile, provide the educational service, and market the Teacher’s services and the Platform in accordance with applicable policies. Uploading content to Maskool does not by itself transfer ownership of that content to Maskool.
Teachers remain responsible for ensuring that content they upload or use does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party. Students may not copy, redistribute, or commercially reuse Educational Content without the Teacher’s permission, except for personal, non-commercial learning use.
Users agree that Maskool may use publicly available information contained in their profile — including name, profile picture, professional information, specialization, experience, and introduction video — for the purpose of displaying and marketing the relevant services and promoting the Platform.
All Users must treat one another with respect and professionalism. Users must not: engage in harassment or bullying; use abusive or inappropriate language; discriminate against another User; threaten another User; engage in inappropriate personal relationships between a Teacher and a Student; request or share unnecessary personal information; use another User’s information for unauthorized purposes; or engage in any conduct that could reasonably place a User, particularly a minor, at risk.
Where a matter involves the safety of a Student or a minor, Maskool may immediately suspend the relevant account while the matter is reviewed.
Users must not use information obtained through Maskool for the purpose of transferring the commercial relationship outside the Platform in order to avoid Maskool’s commission. Communication outside the Platform may only take place where permitted by Maskool’s policies, necessary for providing the educational service, and consistent with applicable privacy requirements and law.
Maskool processes personal information in accordance with its Privacy Policy and applicable law. By using the Platform, Users consent to the collection, use, and processing of their information as described in the Privacy Policy.
Maskool may suspend or terminate a User’s account in circumstances including fraud, impersonation, providing false information or documents, privacy violations, serious breaches of conduct, circumventing Maskool’s commission, repeated absence or cancellation, conduct that creates a safety risk to Users, or other material violations of these Terms or Maskool policies.
Where reasonably possible, Maskool will notify the User of the reason for the suspension and any available process for submitting an explanation or appeal. Users may request to close their account in accordance with the procedures available on the Platform. Amounts properly owed to a Teacher for Completed Lessons before account closure will remain payable, subject to applicable refunds, disputes, adjustments, and applicable law.
The Platform is provided on an "as is” and "as available” basis. Maskool does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation of the Platform and does not guarantee specific educational outcomes. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Maskool’s liability for any claim arising from the use of the Platform shall be limited as set out in the applicable payment and service policies.
Maskool may update these Terms and related policies from time to time. Where material changes are made, Maskool may notify Users through an appropriate communication method. Continued use of the Platform after such changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms, except where a User is required to separately accept the updated version before continuing to use affected services.
By creating an account and using Maskool, whether as a Student or a Teacher, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions and Maskool’s related policies.
