Senior Plant Breeder & Oil Crops Geneticist with nearly 23 years of progressive research and leadership experience at the Agricultural Research Center (ARC) – Field Crops Research Institute, Egypt. Currently stationed at the Shandaweel Agricultural Research Station in Sohag, I have dedicated my career to the strategic genetic enhancement of oilseed crops, with a specialized focus on sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.).
My research portfolio is distinguished by the successful development and official release of elite hybrid and synthetic sunflower varieties that integrate high-yield potential, superior oil quality, and durable resistance to both biotic and abiotic stresses—directly addressing the agronomic challenges of Upper Egypt's agro-ecosystems. I have played a pivotal role in translating genetic gains into tangible agricultural impact, leading national dissemination campaigns that have significantly accelerated farmer adoption of improved cultivars and strengthened the research-to-farm extension pipeline.
Committed to modernizing public-sector breeding, I have actively participated in and facilitated national training programs, introducing advanced methodologies—including molecular marker-assisted selection and multi-environment trial analysis—into local breeding workflows. Beyond my research and extension duties, I contribute to the global scientific community as a rigorous peer reviewer for 22 international and national journals, ensuring the methodological soundness and editorial integrity of published work in plant breeding, genetics, and crop science.
